ADA Information

Welcome!

Welcome to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex (KSCVC). We are committed to providing access throughout our facilities to individuals with disabilities. We offer many ADA services to help make your visit an enjoyable experience.

Accessible Parking

Accessible parking is located near the entrance of the Visitor Complex for a fee (link to parking page). A valid access parking permit is required. A temporary disabled parking permit is available at any ticket window.

Transportation Access

All of our tour buses are equipped with wheelchair-accessible lifts. Guests may request this service from any of the ticket agents and board buses from Gate 5.

Please note: Guests also have the option of transferring into tour buses and picking up a wheelchair at each of the tour destinations.

Accessible Equipment

Wheelchairs are available at the Visitor Complex and each tour destination. Please see a crew member from our wheelchair/stroller distribution area. A valid form of identification is retained for use of the wheelchairs. Wheelchairs can be rented for $10 plus tax and strollers can be rented for $5 plus tax.

Telephones

Pay telephones are mounted at accessible heights are located throughout the Visitor Complex. A Text Typewriter (TTY for the deaf and hearing impaired) is available inside the Debus Conference Center adjacent to the Early Space Exploration building.

Communication Access

Closed Captioning: IMAX® “Rear Window” Reflective Captioning is available for IMAX® movies. Guests may use a reflective panel to view captioning from an LED (light emitting diode) display. Please ask your IMAX® usher for a reflector to use this service.

Tour Sites: Closed Captioning is available for pre-shows and presentations at the tour sites. Please ask a crew member to activate the closed captioning prior to the start of each presentation.

Bus Tour: Captioning is available in English on our video monitors.

American Sign Language Interpreters: Interpreters are available with a two-week advance notice. For additional information call 321.449.4443 or email our Guest Service Manager for more information. Shuttle Launch Experience®: Guests using standard wheelchairs, motorized wheelchairs and electronic convenience vehicles can enter the Shuttle Launch Experience through the gantry entrance with their party. The pre-launch briefing features a reflective captioning panel located at the back of the theater to aid guests with hearing impairments.

For the launch simulation, each crew cabin is equipped with an ADA seat with a pivoting grab bar that allows guests to transfer directly from a wheelchair to the seat. The seat also has a five point harness attachment, as well as an extended seat pan. If a guest is not able to transfer to the seat or decides not to take part in the simulation, a Launch Observation Room is located at the exit of the crew cabin. Outfitted with a flat screen television and three cabin viewing televisions, guests can experience the launch without the simulation, as well as watch their party's experience. The party is able to meet immediately after the launch simulation to exit together.

Audio Guides: Complimentary audio guides featuring an audio amplification system are available to guests who are hearing impaired or have low vision. Audio guides are currently available in English and six other languages.

Access for Guests with Visual Disabilities

Audio Description: Descriptive narration for the IMAX® movies is available for guests who are blind or have low vision. Narrated descriptions provide information about essential visual elements of the action being presented on the screen. Please ask an IMAX® usher for these devices.

Day-of Orientation: Guests who are blind or have low vision may see the Information Counter on the day-of their visit for a short orientation of the space program and Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Guests are provided one complimentary audio guide. No advance reservations are needed.

Theater Access

IMAX® Theaters: IMAX® movies are accessible via the ground-level entrances. Guests may also use wheelchair-accessible lifts to gain access to upper seating locations. Companion seating is available.
Astronaut Encounter: Wheelchair-accessible seating, along with companion seating, is available at various locations throughout the theater. A wheelchair lift providing access to the stage for guest speakers and presentations is also available.

Restrooms

Most restrooms throughout KSCVC are accessible for guests with disabilities. Companion/family restrooms are indicated in the Visitor Guide.

Service Animals

Service animals are permitted throughout all exhibits, presentations and on the bus tour.
