NASA's Third Annual Lunabotics Mining Competition

Guests visiting May 22 - 26 are invited to view NASA's Third Annual Lunabotics Mining Competition. The event is a university-level competition designed to engage and retain students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Teams representing over 60 different colleges are scheduled to compete. Students are challenged to design and build a Lunabot, an excavator that can mine and deposit a minimum of 10 kilograms of lunar simulant within 10 minutes. The event will take place near the Rocket Garden.

During these days, guests can:

  • Walk through the preparation tent
  • See students working on their lunar diggers
  • Possibly see a live demonstration in the demonstration area of NASA Central
  • Price: Included with Admission
