Guests can get up close to the Launch Pad and Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) on a special combined KSC Up-Close Mega Tour, for a limited time only. This special bus tour allows guests to go behind the scenes and experience the two tours together in one day.
For the first time since 1978, guests see the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) firsthand where monstrous vehicles were assembled for launch, as well as where the future is unfolding for our continued missions into space. Tour communicators and colorful signage depict work that has gone on behind the 456-foot-tall high-bay doors.
Then experience the Launch Pad in a way that only astronauts have seen. Nearly a quarter mile within the perimeter security fence of Launch Pad 39-A, guests get an up close view of the 350-foot-high fixed service structure, rotating service structure, propellant storage containers, water tanks and flame trench that was the lift-off point for most space shuttle missions and Apollo moon missions.
This bus tour ends at the Apollo/Saturn V Center.
