2014 Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction

Join us Saturday, May 3, 2014, as the Astronaut Hall of Fame welcomes astronaut inductees Shannon Lucid and Jerry Ross to its ranks. Learn more about this year's inductees. 

Lucid and Ross are being inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame May 3, 3 pm during a ceremony at the Visitor Complex, joining the ranks of well-known space explorers such as Alan Shepard, John Glenn, John Young, Neil Armstrong and Sally Ride.

With support from the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation more than 25 astronauts are attending, including NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden and Kennedy Space Center’s Center Director Robert Cabana, both who are astronauts.

The Induction events are open to the public. This event is included with admission to the Visitor Complex.


Astronaut Schedule

Veteran astronauts Fred Gregory, Jeff Hoffman and Frank Culbertson will provide public meet and greets Saturday, May 3, in Space Shuttle Atlantisâ„  at the Visitor Complex.

10 am – 11 am: Frank Culbertson, three-time shuttle astronaut and commander of International Space Station (ISS) Expedition 3, shares his experiences of space flight at the ground floor ISS exhibit.

11 am – 12 pm: Space shuttle Pilot and Commander Fred Gregory meets with guests near Atlantis’ payload bay. Gregory’s flights included Spacelab 3 and deploying military payloads. Prior to his retirement, Gregory served as NASA Acting Deputy Administrator.

12 pm – 1 pm: Five-time shuttle astronaut Jeff Hoffman shares his stories with guests near Atlantis’ payload bay. Hoffman’s flight experience includes a Spacelab mission and the capture and servicing of Hubble Space Telescope during five spacewalk.s He was the first astronaut to log 1,000 hours aboard the International Space Station.

In conjunction with the Induction, the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation presents the Scholar Technical Conference May 3, 9 am - 12:30 pm.
