Deep Space Travel Discussion Panel with Author Becky Chambers and Astronaut Don Thomas
What is reality and what is fantasy about deep space flight? Author of The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet and A Closed and Common Orbit, writer Becky Chambers is joined by NASA astronaut Don Thomas to discuss questions about deep space exploration. This moderated discussion includes a question and answer session with both participants.
Becky Chambers describes herself as “the progeny of an astrobiology educator, an aerospace engineer and an Apollo-era rocket scientist.” She originally self-published her first book, The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet as the result of a Kickstarter campaign. The book landed on shortlists for The Kitschies’ “Best Debut Novel,” the James Tiptree and Arthur C. Clarke Awards. Becky’s books are all set in deep space, in the very far future.
The first 100 visitors to attend the panel at the Astronaut Encounter Theater will receive a signed copy of The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet. This event is included with daily admission to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
