Honoring Astronaut Alan Bean

NASA astronaut Alan Bean, the fourth human to walk on the Moon, passed away at the age of 86 on May 26, 2018. In 1963, Bean was selected to join NASA’s third astronaut class. The naval aviator went on to become the fourth human in history to set foot on the lunar surface. He then flew as commander of the second crewed flight to America’s first space station, Skylab.

A remembrance ceremony for Alan Bean will take place at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex at 11:00 AM at the Apollo/Saturn V Center. Guests should take the Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour beginning at 9:30 AM if they wish to attend. The bus tour is about 45 minutes long and concludes at the Apollo/Saturn V Center through NASA’s gates. Kennedy Space Center’s Center Director Bob Cabana will speak at the ceremony, remembering the life of this Apollo astronaut. The ceremony is included with daily admission.
