Honoring Astronaut Don Peterson

NASA astronaut Don Peterson, who flew aboard the first flight of space shuttle Challenger and took part in the first spacewalk of the shuttle program, passed away at the age of 84 on May 27, 2018. In 1969, Peterson became a NASA astronaut and served on the astronaut support crew for Apollo 16. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of colonel after more than 24 years of active service.

Join us in honoring Don Peterson at 12:15 PM in Space Shuttle Atlantis® on the bottom floor. The short ceremony will be located at the photo of space shuttle Challenger near Forever Remembered, and is included with daily admission.
