America’s Next Giant Leap: Testing the World’s Largest Rocket StageOct 09, 2020 02:15 PM Universe Theater
The Space Launch System (SLS) team is gearing up for the SLS’s Green Run hot fire test in late October. During this final test, all four SR-25 engines will be strapped to the test stand at Stennis Space Center and fired together for eight minutes.
Before the Green Run hot fire test, hear from Tony Castilleja – Boeing SLS and Marcia Lindstrom and Trey Cate – SLS Strategic Communication as they discuss the SLS rocket, the Green Run test and the Artemis Program. The presentation will be followed by time for Q&A from the live audience and viewers online through Facebook Live. This event is included with admission on a first come, first served basis. For the health and safety of guests and employees, the theater is open in a limited capacity. Guests are encouraged to practice social distancing when choosing seats.
After the hot fire test, engineers will refurbish the core stage and configure it for its journey to Kennedy Space Center for launch preparations. The next time the SR-25 engines fire, the SLS will launch in an epic debut of Artemis I -- the first in a series of increasingly complex missions that will enable human exploration to the Moon and Mars!BUY ADMISSION
