Did you know Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex began as a bus tour? During the dawn of NASA’s space program, the public flocked to the space coast to get a glimpse of America’s burgeoning space program and iconic launch sites. Building on this interest, local politicians and the NASA administrator at the time began a visitor program that started with self-driven tours. By the mid-1960s, popularity had grown so much that funding was approved for a visitor information center and formal bus tour. On July 22, 1966, the center opened with humble exhibits, restrooms, and a guided bus tour.

Now in 2026, we invite you to celebrate six decades of the Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour! For 60 years, the bus tour has delivered front-row access to history. From breathtaking launch viewing locations to behind-the-scenes views of NASA in action (and even unexpected views of nature), this iconic experience has inspired generations.

All month long, do not miss special photo opportunities, vintage throwbacks, a collectible bus popcorn bucket, and more!
