The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is a NASA observatory designed to settle essential questions in the areas of dark energy, exoplanets, and infrared astrophysics. Roman’s barrel-like shape will help block out unwanted light from the Sun, Earth, and Moon, and the spacecraft’s distant location will help keep the instruments cool. The telescope has a primary mirror that is 2.4 meters in diameter (7.9 feet) and is the same size as the Hubble Space Telescope's primary mirror. The Roman Space Telescope will have two instruments, the Wide Field Instrument, and the Coronagraph Instrument technology demonstration. While just as sensitive as Hubble's cameras, the Roman Space Telescope's 300-megapixel Wide Field Instrument will image a sky area 100 times larger. This means a single Roman image will hold the equivalent detail of 100 pictures from Hubble. Get up close to NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope on August 28 and 29, 2026. Members from the Roman team will exhibit on the bottom floor of Space Shuttle Atlantis® from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day, talking about this mission that will launch from Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A on August 30.  

Meet the teams to learn about the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope science goals, play a Roman video game, see a spacecraft model, experience a small infrared camera display, and grab some Roman informational materials. There will also be an in-depth Roman talk inside Journey To Mars at 1:00 PM on August 28, and at 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM,  2:00 PM, and 3:00 PM on August 29 as well.
