Meet the newest concept vehicle designed for navigating the demanding landscape of Mars! Based on NASA science, the next generation of space explorers could be traveling and working in a high-tech mobile laboratory similar to this rover vehicle. The rover vehicle is an impressive size with its mobile lab, and has massive wheels designed to travel over dunes, rocks and craters. Though the rover vehicle's permanent home is Kennedy Space Center, a Summer of Mars tour of east coast cities is planned for July and August. The rover vehicle rolled out of the visitor complex June 30 to make tour stops including

  • The Battery in Atlanta, GA, July 14 - 16
  • National Air & Space Museum in Washington, D.C., July 21 - 22
  • Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ, July 29 - 30
  • Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York, NY, August 3 - 6
  • North Point Mall in Alpharetta, GA, August 12

Once the tour concludes, the rover vehicle will be welcomed home in late August. Visitors can get up close to this extraordinary machine that was commissioned by Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. NASA approved the rover vehicle design, but no U.S. tax dollars were used to fund the building of this vehicle.
